I have a really bad memory and i need a software that i can set reminders on my computer. whats the best software out there, it is safe to use and does it work effectively. please let me know. how do you know for certain if the site the your on is legal? for downloading software why after 30days wepay? they say the software is free. then comes that reminder. would you now like to pay, now that your trial has finished. wanted sound recorder from NCH software. now they want 26.99. its nor free. what is? How do I set a pop-up reminder as my computer shuts down? I need my computer to give me a reminder before I shut it down. I have Windows XP. I don't mind downloading free software but I'd rather not if I can avoid it. All I need it to do is to come up with a message when I do Start>Turn Off Computer>Shut Down telling me to disconnect a hard drive. It seems like Windows XP comes with lots of ways of setting a reminder, but these are all for specific times or when the computer loads up rather than when it shuts down. Any help would be appreciated.

How do I change the date of my McAfee Total Protection downloaded software? I've paid and downloaded McAfee Total Protection and am still reminded that my subscription has lapsed. How can I tell for sure and cancel this "reminder"? I have run the free virus scan and nothing has been detected.

Rio, How will you know when your periods are (with reasonable accuracy) in May 2008 with a day planner, unless you calculate the dates? I dont think people with the greatest power to guesstimate can guesstimate when to expect periods (with reasonable accuracy) when a vacation / party is planned four months ahead unless they calculate.

Looking for very good anti-virus software to download for Windows Vista? I don't want to intall McAfee and Norton because it irks me to have to continue to pay once I've bought a program, and they're intrusive with their pop-up reminders about updating (and paying again). I'm looking for a trusted, effective anti-virus program to download from (obviously) a safe site. I do not mind having to pay *once* though free is always nice, too. Please include links if you are able; if I have to do a search on the anti-virus name, I'm concerned about stumbling onto a harmful site in error, lol. Thank you, everyone! It's going to be difficult to pick a best answer, but I will do so in a day or so. :)

Recommend calendar software? I'm looking for something free or cheap to run on Windows. I mostly need to it to keep track of computer-related stuff -- reminders to backup my pc, subscriptions expiring, that kind of thing. Doesn't need to print or download. HTTP Error 404 - all sites, every time .....? Posted this originally on the US Yahoo Answers site, 1 good response but issue still unresolved. "Arrived home to the g/f saying that she had "broken the internet" .... "sh1t" I thought, if she has managed to do that (did not put it past her), there is going to be a lot of angry people out there .... !!! Unbeknown to me, my anti-virus software (ES ET Smart Security) was 19 days out of date ..... no reminders, nice. Anyway, downloaded on my PC, transferred via usb pen drive and installed various new anti-virus & spyware softwares (AVG Free 8.5, Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware) some which found nothing (?!) some which cleaned out / quarantined 'a lot' (unsure if I still have the logs). Problem before was that couldn't do anything without warnings (from ES ET Smart Security) popping up about the viruses and IE opening and trying to go to p0rn.com & vi@gra.org. Seems like I have cleaned up the laptop now but cannot connect to any site (yahoo, facebook) without the HTTP Error 404. 'Interestingly' the auto navigate attempts to p0rn.com & vi@gra.org didn't bring back any content either. Emptied the browsing history & temp internet files, tried installing Firefox, have checked for updates to the A-V / Spy S/W and re-run scans ..... in desperation, tried 'netsh Winsock reset' in a CMD from advice here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892350/en-us ..... ooops, I now see I am actually on Win XP 2009 SP3 ..... Any suggestions (apart from staying off p0rn sites (I have not visited any p0rn sites (on that computer!)!)!) before I start taking random, drastic actions trying to guess my way through it? I have a program alled MoviePass.TV on my computer and I can`t get rid of it.any suggestions? Either myself or my grand kids downloaded this abomination and i cant seem to get rid of it.
