What web enabled software can power large organizational websites w/ membership management, CMS, Events, RSS? I'm interested in the top providers for a well rounded solution including all modules for member engagement via modules like member management, surveys, articles, press releases, RSS and podcasting content generation from other modules, catalogs, committees, CMS, editable navigation, job board, shopping cart, calendar events scheduling and consolidation, emails and newsletters, contacts, reports and event logs, etc. I'd also like this content to rank well with search engines to gain new members through online awareness of our member engagement. Please name all member management software providers that apply. And please update me on what I am missing out on as far as capabilities I did not mention.
Access Google calendar behind a corporate firewall? I need to access Google calendar from within my company's offices. However, G-cal falls under the category "Interactive Web Applications" which are automatically banned by the software used in our IT, as potentially insecure. Any idea how to work around this limitation?
What software is like a home version (family use) of Sharepoint? We use a Sharepoint site at work, and would love to have something like this for home. Various members of my family have their own computers, and it would be great to share documents... photos... calendars... weblinks... etc. I'm looking for something similar to Sharepoint, but for use on our computers and accessible via our network. Either web-based of software-based. Anything???
What is the best place to hire in order to self-publish a photo calendar and book? I've looked at lulu and blurb and a bunch of other publishers of photo books that advertise on the web. They all claim to be the best. Some do the whole job for you; some provide you with software and you do it yourself. Does anyone know a company that does a good job, and provides a reasonable price for a good product, i.e., layout, paper, cover, etc?
Recommend me some software? I'm hoping to find some kind of software for project planning, preferably free and preferably web-based so it can be accessed from various computers. This is for organizing the running of a science fiction convention, so it should act like an advanced to-do list and calendar thing, keeping track of what progress we are making on all the various things that need to get done. Recommendations?
What software do I need for new Mac and business?? I am looking for website where I can purchase software for my new Macs that I plan to purchase and for my hobby below: Can anyone help??? ( I am switching from Microsoft to Apple) I am looking for the main type of apps also: 1. Microsoft Office - What version should I purchase (prof, teachers, etc)? 2. What Virus protection software should I purchase? 3. Building Web sites and pages - what software should I purchase? 4. What Firewall protection software should I purchase? 5. What email software? My Occupation: I am lucky enough that my hobby has turned into a full time job. I want to start building a web site of my own instead of depending on someone else, and find some type of software that would help with the following: 1. Keep track of inventory, sales, bookkeeping, and etc.. for the used car business. Be able to post on the internet my inventory with pictures and also post on ebay. Keep track of prospects (possible buyers)- call backs, a calendar, keep track of their birthdays and when they need to service their car or truck. 2. Build web site for the business. I am also looking for other types of software for heavy number crunching, analysis, stock analysis, etc. Should I just use Filemaker??? and Quickbooks??? Please!!! Can anyone help??? Thank you. Where can I go to learn how to do back end web design? I already know a LOT of HTML and have been building websites since 1993. I have even sold a few, but I mainly donate them. As I do not want to be editing and updating the same websites every week forever, how do I go about setting up a website that someone else can edit easily without having to rely on me and my HTML and web design software knowledge? I mainly need to know how to build something like the “Manage Link Gear” on HTMLgear.com and an end user updateable calendar. I also need to know how to do a message board of some sort, but that can wait as I can use free stuff for a while. Here is the one I am currently looking to add some of these back end options too: http://fbcommunitygarden.com/ This group needs a way to upload text and images to one page, update a calendar, a message board, and a user area. This group needs to be able to change out pictures of animals and update a calendar on this site that I made as well: http://cfprescue.com/ I know about HTMLgear and other similar sites, but I want to learn how to do these things myself so the sites do not have to link to their site and I can customize it more and not have adds on it. Is there a particular programming language or languages that I should learn? If so, are there free tutorials online? I won’t have any money until my husband gets another job, but when I do, are there classes at a community college for the programming side of it? If so, what are they usually called? I live in the Dallas area. bonus points go to - Although, I do not need this right now… I would also like to learn how to do databases. That might not even be the right term. I want to be able to put all of my images online and search for them something like istockphoto.com only just for my photos as I have a lot. I also want to learn how to allow users to make their own user names to log in and enter in their volunteer hours, etc.
Failed to load XML file? Does anyone know why I get the error "failed to load XML file" on this site: http://veronabaseball.50megs.com/index.html ? It suppose to be a web calendar (coffee cup software) and it works on my own server, but I need it to work on 50 megs. Please help ASAP. I can't edit the flash file though and it works everywhere but 50 megs... OK thanks, I try to figure it out and post the answer when I'm done. the page has been moved here for now: http://veronabaseball.50megs.com/index_new.html Sorry for the late reply, here is were the XML file is, but it says forbidden: http://veronabaseball.50megs.com/homecal.xml . Theres also this: http://veronabaseball.50megs.com/homecal.html but that's just the link to the broken calendar. Here's a link to the test site I used while making the website, the calendar works here: http://www.firstlinestudio.com/veronabaseball/index.html How to I fix that? I don't have FTP access to change the CHMOD, so what should I do? Contact 50 megs? Well I made the website for the baseball team, I don't maintain it. I offered the guy that does some webspace, but he already paid for 50megs. That wouldn't have been my first choice either, but I can't do anything about it. I told him to contact 50 megs, so I guess we can see what happens from there. Thanks for the help though. Thanks for all the help and I found a solution I should have thought of a couple days ago. I linked the calendar to my server and now it works great. I think the hosting is like 2 or 3 bucks a month, which is still a rip off because he paid for a whole year and he could have got something better for the same price at 1 and 1. O well, problem solved and thanks for all the ideas. It will help me troubleshoot in the future.
Need interactive web tools for new website, where do I find? I am building a new website and want to add free interactive tools. I want to add calculators my visitors can use and calendars for each client to keep track of deadlines. Do I have to have a software company custom design these or can I purchase online?
How do I protect and save my stuff? I'm going to re-partition my hard drive. I own all the software, so that's not a problem. But I understand that the hard drive will be totally wiped clean. What's the best method to store for future use my creations: pictures, sounds, music, videos, web pages, calendars, documents, e-mails and faxes sent and received, etcetera????????? I'm going to re-partition so that I can have 2 operating systems on my pc: ME and XP. Since I got XP none of my periphials (scanner and printer) work the same and some of my favorite software is unuseable. Please give details how to save my stuff to CD, DVD, or floppy or some other means - but not online! Thanks in advance!
Need recommendations for scheduling software to automate task assignments? I have been asked to find software that will help a vacation house cleaning business schedule tasks in an optimal way. Basically a client has a clean that needs to be done between day X and Y and the clean will take Z hours. So what I am looking for is software that allows me to add the various tasks (cleans in this case) and then the SW will automatically generate a calendar telling me which houses should be cleaned when. If at all possible I would also like it to handle if at the end of the day not all the tasks where complete so it could re-schedule the tasks. Some added bonuses: - the ability to block out times, and have it re-calculate the schedule. - a web interface to the calendar, or even an API or database I could hook into to expand on the viewing.

What kind of Software Can I Use for Creating and Managing a Newsletter? For the last two years, I have slowly evolved my career towards becoming a private guitar instructor. Lately. I have been thinking about creating a newsletter because I'm discovering the effectiveness of word-of-mouth advertisement from parents and students. From my experience in writing, I'm aware that a properly written and distributed newsletter or mailing list is highly effective way to reach people. The question I have is what kind of software would I need? Is there a really good program available for creating, editing, and managing this? Are there web-based applications or a free website? I just want to write mini articles (tips, etc.) and calendar info, including recitals or open music events... I just don't know how to get this started, so I thought I would ask? It would be even really swell if I could just tie it all in with my calendar, which I have yet to figure out a program. Would MS Outlook be a soloution for Calendar and Newsletter?

Detailed PDA-purchasing advice needed.? I'm in the market for a PDA. My plan (months ago) was to buy the Axim x51v from Dell. It ran MS, which I'm familiar with. I need it to check a web-based email (so wireless internet is a must) and to manage my web-based calendar. I'll also store documents, etc. I learned today that the Axims are not being made any longer. I'm doing research and am finding that the MS-based PDAs don't have very strong battery power, and some don't even have a battery that you can change out (you have to charge the whole PDA). I'm not familiar with Palm software at ALL, and would much prefer to use MS, but I'm wondering if there are any PDA experts out there who can recommend one over the other and explain why. I'm looking at the Axim x51v (on ebay), the Pharos 325e, and the Palm TX handheld. Any thoughts on any of these three? I'm very open to suggestions other than these 3 as well, but I do NOT want a PDA mixed with a phone because I often need to be on my phone and PDA at the same time.

Which Smart Phone is for me? Iphone, Blackberry, other? I am a 40 year old attorney. I am primarily in the office but need a phone that syncs with my Outlook via our Microsoft Exchange Server for times when I am away from the office. In order of importance: phone, email, calendar, contacts, general web use. I am open to go with any cell phone carrier but am leaning toward Verizon due to their good reputation. I don't love ATT. T-mobile is cheaper but I have heard of many problems. Anyway, back to the question, what the heck phone should I get? I think I want a full qwerty keyboard. I am considering an Iphone but I don't love ATT. I don't really want a Blackberry as that would require $2,000 in software, for the Enterprise software, to be fully linked with our exchange server. Money is not a big issue so I don't mind spending a few bucks for a phone but don't really want to drop 2 gr for the Blackberry softberry. Your thoughts and recommendations? Please provide as much detail as you can as I really do not know much. Thanks for your help.
Ban me ? I find your web site utterly trite and tedious. About the only good thing you've ever done is Yahoo Calendar. Other than that, your software sucks. The Contacts synching never works, and the offline mail archiving is pathetic. No view customization in the inboxes, either. Is Yahoo ever going to do something constructive, or just produce more of these childish icons that degrade our children's already-debased abilities for communication? Respectfully I request that you give up. Also: where is the "any" key Thanks for the answers so far. Is Yahoo a content company or a search company? I think they should just pick one. Google has already managed to ruin the web by themselves, and I don't believe they need any help. The male avatars have some REALLY helpful answers tonight. Oh my God. You're so frickin macho. Why doesn't Yahoo let me report myself for self-abuse? I'm afraid of what I might do next. :P The Academy Awards were pretty weak. Anyone going to see The Cherry Orchard at Mark Taper before it closes?
iPod Touch information? Here Is iPod Touch Information The iPod Touch is a portable media player and Wi-Fi mobile platform designed and marketed by Apple Co. The product was launched on September 5, 2007 through an event called The Beat Goes On.[1] The iPod Touch adds the multi-touch graphical user interface to the iPod line and is available with 8, 16, or 32 GB of flash memory. It includes Apple's Safari web browser and is the first iPod with wireless access to the iTunes Store. With a software update, which is sold by Apple, it also has access to Apple's App Store.[2] The second generation iPod Touch, featuring external volume controls, a built-in speaker, a contoured back and built-in Nike+ support, was unveiled on September 9, 2008 at the Let's Rock keynote presentation. The iPod touch has the iPhone's multi-touch interface, with a physical home button off the touch screen. The home screen has a list of buttons for the available applications. All iPod touch models have included the applications Music, Videos, and Photos (collectively duplicating the standard functions of the iPod Classic), iTunes (providing access to the Wi-Fi Music Store), Safari, YouTube, Calendar, Contacts, Clock, Calculator, and Settings. Later models added Mail (accessing POP/IMAP/SMTP e-mail), Maps, Stocks, Notes, and Weather,[3] which could also be added to the earlier models with the purchase of a $20 software upgrade. Direct links to web sites can be added to the home screen by the user (called "Web Clips"). On July 11, 2008 the iPhone 2.0 software was released for the iPod Touch for $9.95. The update allowed 1st generation iPod touches to access the App Store, download third party applications, in addition to a host of minor "fixes". There is now the 2nd generation iPod touches from $229.00. [edit] Requirements As supplied new, the iPod Touch needs a connection to a computer for initial configuration.[4] Officially, Apple requires iTunes to be installed on either a Mac OS X or Windows operating system based computer for configuring the iPod Touch. On either operating system, the iPod Touch must be connected through a USB port.[5] The first time the iPod Touch is turned on, a "connect cable to iTunes" graphic will be displayed continuously until the iPod Touch is connected to a computer running iTunes.[6] To use the iPod Touch for buying products at the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store via Wi-Fi, an iTunes Store account must be created in iTunes and the account details then entered into the iPod.[7] Apple states that the following is required for the iPod Touch:[5] * A computer running either: o Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later o Microsoft Windows XP with SP2 or later, or Vista (32 or 64-bit versions)[8] * iTunes 8.0 (with the 2.1 iPhone OS update) or 7.6 for iPhone OS 2.0.x or earlier * Available USB 2.0 port [edit] Models Generation Capacity Color Connection (for syncing) Original release date Minimum OS to sync Rated battery life (hours) First 8 GB Black USB 2.0 (FireWire for charging only) 5 September 2007 Mac: 10.4.10 Windows: XP SP2 audio: 22 video: 5 16 GB 32 GB 5 February 2008 Second 8 GB Black USB 2.0 only [9] 9 September 2008 Mac: 10.4.10 Windows: XP SP3 audio: 36 video: 6 16 GB 32 GB The iPod touch is equipped with Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, and, like the iPhone, includes the Safari browser and a viewing client for YouTube. The device's Wi-Fi capabilities can also be used to buy music from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store. The iPod touch 2.0 Software Update supports WPA2 Enterprise with 802.1X authentication.[10] [edit] Third-party applications Jailbroken first generation iPod Touch, running firmware version 1.1.1. Shortly after the iPod Touch was released (firmware release 1.1.1), hackers were able to "jailbreak" the device through a TIFF exploit. The resulting application, "Installer.app", enabled the user to download a selection of unofficial third-party programs. Some of these give the user more control over the iPod Touch than is officially available, and also makes it work on Linux operating systems. Firmware versions 1.1.2, 1.1.3, 1.1.4, 1.1.5, 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2, 2.1, and 2.2[11] can also be jailbroken. Only first generation iPods could be jailbroken, since the newest generation has a different processor. Servicing an iPod Touch after jailbreaking or other modifications made by unofficial means is not covered by Apple's warranty. A software development kit (SDK) was officially announced on March 6, 2008, at an Apple Town Hall meeting.[12] The iPhone SDK allows developers to
Do I need Dreamweaver? I'm starting a little web site for my church; the sermon, weekly news, calendar of events, a few still pictures. From the little I've read, Dreamweaver software is the most common. At $200, is this the best way to go or is it over-kill?

Can anyone suggest a good CMS system for this problem? Hi, I have a requirement to develop a system for multiple users to use that will do the following: *Allow users to create a new project area. *A project area can have files uploaded to it which will be version controlled. *Each project will also have some standard information that is required by all projects, I want to capture this information through web forms if possible which will then generate xml files which are stored in the project area, for downloading, editing etc. *Allow users to add dates for the project to a calendar and send e-mail reminders. Can anyone suggest some good Content Management software to allow me to do this? So far I have tried Alfresco which has some of these features but they are not all together, they are split into 2 areas which don't seem to work together. Thanks Karl I would build my own but i dont have much time, i need to use open source software to speed up development. Can anyone suggest any?

It cant be extremely heavy cause I want to take it to school sometimes,. I take A LOT of pictures so it has to be able to organize them. I don't really need it for gaming.. What training class should I take for Oracle? I need to develop a calendar to schedule classes in two cities and I would like to display it on the internet. I know there's packaged scheduling software already out there but I would like to create a simple version as well as gain more knowledge and experience and my job is willing to pay for the training. I have very little experience in web design and programming. Any suggestions on where I should start and what training classes to take? I'm not interested in a degree in programming or web design right now since I'm finishing up my last year in Accountancy.
How can I sync my ical to my blackberry without buying an application? I have a mac and I use iCal for ALL of my calendar items. I also have a BlackBerry that I keep on me at all times. I need a way to have my iCal and BlackBerry in sync at all times. Is there a way to make it automatically update through the web? I have tried pushing events from iCal to gCal and then doing a Google Sync from gCal to my BlackBerry, but unfortunately gCal doesn't update more than once every few days, which is no help if I'm in a meeting and can't remember what time an appointment is that I entered that morning. Please please please tell me there is a way for me to get this to work without having to purchase any extra software!
