Desktop Calendar Software

I need a Calendar software that can inform me important days, events, and work to be done.?

Hi I'm a student with lots of lessons and assignments from classes. I want an effective calendar software that can help me organize when and what I have to get things done. I need it to be active, meaning I don't have to open it manually to see what is happening, it should automatically inform me special tasks that I have set; it'd better have a pop op, or on screen notice functions. Please don't suggest me online calendar service because I'm not always online. Did I ask too much? Thank you. Thank you, Paputi. But I need a computer software.
