Desktop Calendar Software

Can anyone recommend a free, easy to use desktop tickler system with an alarm function?

I need to remember dates to file liens and I can put a calendar on my desktop, but I need something that will ALERT me as to an upcoming deadline. If you know of a tickler system software that works for you, please let me know about it. Thanks!

2. Well i use Active Desktop Calender It has a nice calender where you can pin "notes" into dates On the right hand side it displays current and upcoming events and anything you pined. They also have an alarm function to set an alarm at a certain time of day.
