Desktop Calendar Software

Please recommend an excellent calendar software for keeping track of appointments?

Prefer something free, but I'm willing to pay if it is exceptional. It can be client-based software, or web-based. I like Outlook at work. I need something for at home. It needs to be super easy to enter appointments. Email notifications would be nice, too.
